Holidays are coming and many of us are taking vacations. We often feel obligated to bring a souvenir, when coming back home. Frazzled and hurried or to relaxed and clueless, we pick up something small and light, to keep everybody happy. Here is my take on it:
The food will be eaten, the wine-consumed, the crumbles will be swept out, the empty bottle will be disposed of and the taste

of the treats won’t linger forever. So, what’s left? O, there are some memories, not for long, though and a minor achievement in

extracting a reaction, such as an unenthusiastic “Thanks” from those who’s got a souvenir.
I’d like to offer a few suggestion for items, which may last longer an actually be used.

·Many souvenirs shops offer a metal or plastic flat serving tray, with pictures of the city or the country. They differ in size, but usually very light weighted and don’t take much space. The use: carry 2 beers and a bowl of chips, or a few cups of tea and the sweets from your kitchen to anywhere at once, and then easily clean the table. I like it so much, that I’ve graduated to

buying a few nice, beautiful, made of lightweight wood and plastic trays and use it for mail storing, holding toiletries on the

dresser, and of course for serving the food. It’s actually a good gift for many occasions and may even prompt a person to start a collection. It can be hung on walls, too.
·Christmas tree decorations. Usually light weight, but could be breakable or bulky.
· Tote bags with logos or places. Light weight, foldable, and useful.
· Jewelry and scarves, preferably, depicting the places. Light, small, and useful.
· Refrigerator magnets, key chains reflecting places visited. It’s still a thought that counts.
· T-Shirts and sweatshirts. Preferably unique looking. Useful at least for a while.
· Bath Robe with nice logo or just soft and fluffy. Make sure it fits well, and not bulky.
· Small paintings of the cities, painted by local artists or interesting carton framed photographs. Small, light, memory retaining.
· For those really interested in your adventures, choose the best pictures taken and present it in the album. Not everybody likes to view pictures on the PC (and not everyone has it, too).
